About Me: Bio/Pics
|
I'm Dan Starr, a Tucson, Arizona keyboard instructor who has
spent the last several years only
teaching ADULT STUDENTS. I teach such students locally, but also work
with online "learners." YOU might have some false info which some
"expert" provided in the past. As for ME, I've always specialized in
teaching older students (since 1987!) and I've learned two vital,
critical things:
1. Making music improves happiness and brain health for older students.
Recent research supports this. It's a great hobby to increase brain
activity and staying as young
as possible. "Convential wisdom" says that only kids can learn - not
true! Adults CAN and SHOULD play the keyboard FOR THEIR OWN ENJOYMENT!
2. Electronic keyboards are the best teaching tools ever invented,
even very cheap ones. You don't need to buy a new piano, making this a
cheap and fun hobby!
I very strongly advise you to "do some homework" by reading the
material concerning lessons,
and THEN get in touch. with whatever questions you still have. Click
HERE!
I use phone or
email (see above) for information and to set up a FREE INITIAL
INTERVIEW. I find out WHAT each prospect WANTS to play. The instrument
they already own is usually just fine for learning. However, if they need to buy something, I can help
with that.
I teach both BEGINNERS and THOSE WHO ALREADY PLAY. I can and do teach most
anything with keys: acoustic pianos, digital pianos, portable keyboards,
and synthesizers (although I stress the value of keyboards!)
I teach personalized private lessons AND provide music classes (currently on the
use of chords and "Fakebooks") which are cheaper by far for students.
In addition to teaching music, I
write ebooks about
music,
entertain, and
write and record my own
compositions.
